IND vs ENG: "It Is Like Me Taking My Daughter To The Toy Store"- Aakash Chopra Believes England's Abundance Of Alternatives Becomes A Weakness Sometimes

According to Aakash Chopra, England’s playing XI’s abundance of alternatives occasionally becomes a drawback. 

England, which finished second in Group 1 of the Super 12 stage, advanced to the T20 World Cup semifinals. India, who finished first in Group 2, will now meet Jos Buttler & Co. in the second semifinal on Thursday in Adelaide (November 10). 

England Have No Clue Sometimes: Aakash Chopra

In a video posted on his YouTube account, Aakash Chopra discussed the characteristics of the two Group 1 teams that advanced to the quarterfinals. Regarding England, he said: 

“Their strength becomes their weakness at times, which is basically that they have so many options that it is difficult to figure out. It is like me taking my daughter to the toy store; she wants everything.

That is exactly what England is. Whether they should get Dawid Malan to bat or Moeen to bowl, they have no clue sometimes.” 

Aakash Chopra identified England’s aggressiveness and batting depth as their greatest strengths, noting that they were rather fortunate to go to the last four. The former India starting pitcher added: 

“England were slightly fortunate because they made mistakes. Let’s be fair: you lost to Ireland and were almost about to lose to Sri Lanka. But this team has the depth. What I like about this team is their aggressive approach and the depth in the batting.” 

The fact that England’s match versus Australia was postponed may have also helped. They would have been eliminated from the competition if they had lost that game. 

New Zealand Plays With A Lot Of Method: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra chose the meticulous approach of New Zealand as their distinguishing characteristic. He noticed: 

“New Zealand – what defines them? Of course, discipline. Pratishtha anushasan parampara – that’s what New Zealand is all about. This team plays with a lot of method; they don’t go away from it.” 

Every Black Caps player, according to the renowned analyst, does their part to perfection. He stated: 

“Each person’s role is defined, and they always perform that role. That is why when they lose; they don’t lose big. They don’t make mistakes. It’s a team that tries to be error-free.” 

With the same amount of points as England and Australia but a higher net run rate than both, New Zealand won Group 1 overall. On Wednesday in Sydney, they will compete against Pakistan in the first semifinal (November 9).
