Aakash Chopra believes India’s way of playing will be a source of worry in the T20 World Cup semi-finals in 2022.

The Men in Blue ended at the top of the Super 12 Group 2 points table with 8 points. They will face England, the second-placed side from Group 1, in the second semi-final on Thursday, November 10 in Adelaide.

Chopra delves into the defining characteristics of the Group 2 teams that qualified for the semi-finals in a video posted to his YouTube account. In terms of India, he stated:

“India has a decent batting lineup.” They have both strengths and weaknesses. Our playing style, I believe, could be a source of concern for us in the semi-final. That’s another issue with our spin.”

Chopra highlighted that the first-time T20 World Cup champions followed their procedures and avoided being surprised. According to the former Indian batsman,

“They are a slightly methodical team. They follow a philosophy, don’t make mistakes. They won the matches against Zimbabwe and the Netherlands. They don’t slip on banana skins. South Africa defeated us but fair enough, they are a good team and can beat us. We won the Pakistan match, which was actually a good game of cricket,” Aakash Chopra remarked.

“They have a totally different style of playing”: Aakash Chopra on Pakistan

Aakash Chopra chose Pakistan’s erratic playing style as their defining feature. He noticed:

“Pakistan is a fantastic team boss. What are your plans? They play in a very different manner. They are definitely from another planet because it appears that this is or may not happen.”

Despite pointing out Babar Azam’s willow’s inability to score runs, the acclaimed analyst thinks the Men in Green are now playing their strongest XI. Aakash Chopra clarified:

“With four quick bowlers, two spinners, and a phenomenal striker in Haris, they are now fielding the ideal XI. Although the captain hasn’t scored any runs, it’s okay because both captains are nearly in identical shape.”

After losing to India, Pakistan added Mohammad Wasim as a second seamer to their starting lineup. In his two appearances, Mohammad Haris, who joined their team as Fakhar Zaman’s injured replacement, has done brilliantly.
