The legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar praised India’s preparedness for the T20 World Cup. Gavaskar told India Today that the fact that India landed in Australia 18 days prior to the competition demonstrates how well they had planned for it this time around.

India has excelled in this year’s event, first maintaining composure in a close match against Pakistan and then mercilessly dispatching Netherlands to take the lead in the standings. In their third match of the Super-12 stage, the team will face South Africa and their renowned pace quartet.

Sunil Gavaskar Impressed By India’s Preparation For T20 World Cup

“This time around the preparation has been fantastic. They came 18 days before their first game. They spent a week or 10 days at Perth. Maybe they did not play in the new stadium, but they practiced at the old WACA.

“But in the new stadium, the soil has been brought from the old stadium and that’s why you are seeing a lot of bounce and a lot of carry. To practice for what they are going to get in the matches has been very smart, very well thought out,” Sunil Gavaskar said in an exclusive interview with India Today.

After they were eliminated from the competition in 2021, India made a number of changes. Sharma stated that India had attempted to analyse their errors and alter their approach from the previous World Cup in the hopes that their techniques would be successful before their opening match against Pakistan.

India Slight Favorite Against South Africa: Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar stated that India are ahead of South Africa in their match because all of the South African batters had not fired simultaneously.

“I would imagine that the game will be slightly in favour of Indians. They have been on a roll and batted well. Against Pakistan they held their nerve and against Netherlands they showed ruthlessness.

“For South Africa, apart from a couple of their batters, they have not been in the best of forms. India have the new ball attack to tackle that,” Sunil Gavaskar said.

Whoever prevails between India and South Africa would be well-positioned to win the group moving into the tournament’s semi-final.
