Ravichandran Ashwin, a renowned off-spinner for India, has openly advocated for inflicting run-outs from the non-end. striker Ashwin has always been open about his opinion on run-out from the non-end, the striker having done that once to Jos Buttler in the 2019 IPL and encouraging anyone who does the same.

This kind of removal has been hotly contested ever since India all-rounder Deepti Sharma ran out England’s Charlie Dean at the non-end strikers in an ODI played at the Lords Cricket Ground. Some people believe that this is against the spirit of cricket.

It is crucial to note that it is absolutely permissible to run the non-striker out when they wander too far ahead of the crease, even if the bowler has not yet delivered the ball. The ICC recently changed this practice from the “unfair play” category to the “run-out” category.

Ravichandran Ashwin spoke at a news conference prior to India’s T20 World Cup Super 12 match against Zimbabwe on the team’s preparations and the task that lies ahead. Given that Ashwin is speaking to the media, it is almost inevitable that a question about running the non-striker out if he or she moves too far ahead before the bowler even delivers the ball would be raised.

It is a form of dismissal and it is legal: Ravichandran Ashwin

When asked whether the non-striker should be run out if he or she is too far ahead before the ball is even bowled, Ashwin responded:

“To be honest, I wouldn’t want to out in that manner either. Just because I don’t like it does not imply I can’t do it. Nobody enjoys being run out, and I despise being knicked off, bowled, LBW, or run out. Similarly, I do not want to be run out at the non-striker’s end” Ravichandran Ashwin said.

“It is legal, and it is a form of dismissal.” There are numerous reasons for and against this. People will have contradicting thoughts, as with anything else in this life. It is perfectly OK whether you want to do it or not. It’s a good thing that some people won’t do it since you can always run at the last minute and wait. It’s good; people will claim they won’t do it, and as a cricketer, I’ll take advantage of that” Ravichandran Ashwin Added.

Team India is currently in first place in Group 2 and is one of the main favorites to get to the T20 World Cup semi-final. With six points after four games, India is presently leading their group. On Sunday, they will play Zimbabwe in their last group game of the competition.
