Craig Ervine, the captain of Zimbabwe, said that the team’s victory over Pakistan had given them a tremendous amount of confidence. Ervine believes it will benefit them much when they face India on November 6 in their final Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup.

India will be Zimbabwe’s next opponent in Melbourne after they failed to win any of their three completed games, eliminating them from semi-final contention. The African nation will want to surprise the Men in Blue and undermine their chances of qualifying for the knockout round.

Speaking ahead of the match at the storied Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Craig Ervine asserts that the team’s confidence has been much bolstered by defeating Pakistan. The possibility of competing against some of the top players in the world, including Virat Kohli, excites the middle-order hitter.

The ICC cited his words as follows: “With the victory over Pakistan, we now have a great deal of confidence that we can defeat any team in the competition. That won’t change moving into tomorrow’s game, in my opinion.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity to bowl against some of the top men in the world, so there’s no reason why guys shouldn’t go out there and deliver. When is the last time you had the chance to put Virat Kohli in your pocket? I’m confident that our fast bowlers will be ready to go tomorrow.”

“I don’t think we have any plans against Virat” – Craig Ervine

With 220 runs from four games with the help of three undefeated half-centuries, Kohli presently holds the record for most runs scored at the T20 World Cup.

As he supported the great Indian batter’s ability to effectively handle any situation, Ervine claimed that Zimbabwe had no specific preparations to stop Kohli. Craig Ervine described:

“I don’t believe we have any plans to take on Virat. I believe he is simply too excellent of a player. You can dissect so many different theories for a lot of these guys, and at the end of the day, if you come out and hit a good area, use your change-ups, all that sort of stuff, I don’t think special plans really work for these guys because they’re so good at adapting to different conditions and different situations” Craig Ervine Added.

The Men in Blue will advance to the semifinals with a victory. Additionally, it will make Pakistan’s prospects of progressing to the knockout round extremely slim.
