Craig Ervine, the team’s captain, wants to build on his team’s consistency throughout the tournament in order to accomplish greater goals in the future as they reflect on their campaign before their final encounter against India at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.

Few people had projected that Zimbabwe would advance to the Super 12 round of the Men’s T20 World Cup, despite the fact that they had been riding a new wave of results since July.

After all, they were drawn into a difficult Group A in the first round, alongside two-time champions West Indies, Ireland, and Scotland.

However, Zimbabwe came from behind to upset Ireland and Scotland to take the top spot in Group 2 of the Super 12s. Zimbabwe was now pursuing making life difficult for the major sides clubbed alongside them, with confidence bubbling and the aim of making Super 12s attained.

Despite the fact that their match against South Africa was rained out, Zimbabwe stunned Pakistan by successfully defending 130 and winning by one run. They were also defeated by Bangladesh by three runs and thoroughly defeated by the Netherlands by five wickets.

“We got some great results leading into the tournament”: Craig Ervine

Craig Ervine, the team’s captain, wants to build on his team’s reliability throughout the tournament in order to accomplish greater goals in the future as they reflect on their campaign ahead of their last encounter against India at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.

“We knew that coming into this tournament, we had really good momentum. We got some great results leading into the tournament. The confidence and everything were up for us coming into the tournament and our main goal was to qualify for the Super 12s as well as still performing against some of the bigger teams” Craig Ervine said.

We have a strong fan base today and so many people are interested in Zimbabwe cricket. “We want to try to preserve it that way and grow on it in the future,”  Craig Ervine stated during the pre-match press conference.

India will be Zimbabwe’s next opponent in Melbourne after they failed to win any of their three completed games, eliminating them from semi-final contention. The African nation will want to surprise the Men in Blue and undermine their chances of qualifying for the knockout round.
