Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has said that Babar Azam and Co. will perform better in the knockouts of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 than they did in the Super 12 stage of the tournament.

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan were staring at a first-round exit after back-to-back defeats against India and Zimbabwe. However, the Netherlands pulled off a huge upset by defeating South Africa on Sunday, which made the match between Bangladesh and Pakistan a virtual quarter-final.

Pakistan easily managed to defeat Bangladesh by 5 wickets in that game to seal a semi-final berth. Now, the Men In Green are set to take on New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday, November 9 in the semi-final 1.

Even during the 1992 World Cup, Pakistan did the same and climbed from the bottom to the top – Inzamam-ul-Haq

In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Inzamam-ul-Haq said that Pakistan will climb from the bottom to the top just like they did in the 1992 ICC Cricket World Cup. Notably, Inzamam-ul-Haq was part of the Pakistan World Cup squad that lifted the trophy in 1992.

“Pakistan’s performance in the semifinals and final will be better than the Super 12 Stage round”, he said.

“This time in Australia, Pakistan climbed from bottom to top. Even during the 1992 World Cup, Pakistan did the same and climbed from bottom to top”, he further added.

Notably, the Pakistan National Cricket Team under the leadership of Imran Khan defeated the Graham Gooch-led England National Cricket Team by 22 runs in the final in Melbourne to win the 1992 World Cup.
