NZ vs PAK: “There's Not A Reliance On One Or Two Players” – Kane Williamson Ahead Of World Cup Semi-final vs Pakistan

New Zealand National Cricket Team captain Kane Williamson has said that the Black Caps are not reliant on one or two players and the team effort has helped them make it to the semi-finals stage.

Semi-final 1 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will be played between the Group 1 table-toppers New Zealand National Cricket Team and Group 2 runners-up Pakistan National Cricket Team at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday, November 9.

The Black Caps finished the Super 12 stage with 3 wins, 1 defeat and 1 no-result while the Men In Green finished the Super 12 stage with 3 wins and 2 losses.

At the pre-match press conference, Kane Williamson was asked about the Black Caps making it to yet another semi-finals. He replied:

“For us, it’s just focusing on our cricket. You come to these tournaments, and as we’ve seen, all teams can beat each other and it’s definitely a pretty exciting event.

“I guess you’re going through it trying to adjust to conditions as quickly as possible, make those changes to the different opposition and really go out and try and express yourselves. It’s been nice that we’ve been able to see that throughout this competition. And certainly want to be doing that again tomorrow.”

Kane Williamson further talked about New Zealand’s team effort to reach the semi-finals and said that the players are performing their roles very well and are contributing towards the team’s success. He stated:

“ I think the fickle nature of T20 and the competitive nature of the tournament, with all teams, all games being close, basically, and all teams beating each other, sort of means that there’s not a reliance on one or two. It’s guys trying to play their roles as well as they can and make contributions towards what we’re trying to do as a team.”

While talking about the young opening batsman Finn Allen, Kane Williamson said that he has got the ability to play explosive cricket and they are giving him the freedom to play his natural game. He asserted:

“Yes, that’s the strength of his game, his ability to go hit the ball hard and play with freedom and encouraging that is important.

“Not just for him to play his natural game, but also for our team and the balance that he brings with his style of play. So, yeah, he’s enjoying it cricket. And he’s young and he’s got heaps and heaps of talent as we’ve already seen.”
