For the Pakistan cricket side in the T20 World Cup, it has been a rollercoaster trip from the verge of elimination to reaching the final. At the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, they will face off against England in the championship game.

Former Australian greats Brett Lee and Adam Gilchrist believe that Matthew Hayden, their team coach, has been instrumental in the development of the Pakistan cricket squad.

The duo believes Hayden’s belief, calmness, and nurturing demeanor are a perfect match for Pakistan’s players, who are responding to his influence.

“It doesn’t surprise me that Pakistan is a better unit under Haydos’ leadership,” Lee told foxsports.com.au.

“He’s always been that way. He’s always been a leader. He’s always been a person who speaks from the heart and will speak up if something isn’t right. And I adore that about Haydos. There’s a lot of openness. He doesn’t mince words,” he added.

“So it’s not only a work chance to make some money and build a good resume around coaching and consulting.” “It’s something he takes very seriously, as would Mike Hussey with England,” said Gilchrist, who had scored 5,409 runs at an average of 47.44 in ODIs with Matthew Hayden.

“I think that just summed it up. The pride and the passion he has in any role he takes on.”

Pakistan will face England on November 13th, Sunday, in Melbourne. The prospects of the match taking place are slim due to the weather prediction in Melbourne, but the ICC has set up a reserve day in case the game is rained out.
