Pakistan are on the verge of facing a Super 12 stage exit after suffering a shocking one-run defeat against Zimbabwe in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Group 2 Super 12 match at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Thursday, October 27.

Their campaign went from bad to worse. This was Pakistan’s second successive loss in the competition after being defeated by India on Sunday, October 23. Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir has lashed out at Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Rameez Raja, accusing him of being responsible for the men’s defeat in Green’s shock defeat.

The Zimbabwean bowlers struck early blows, dismissing in-form openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan cheaply, and rattled past the middle-order to help their cause. Pakistan’s batting lineup failed to chase down the target of 130 runs. Sikander Raza took three wickets, while Blessing Muzarabani and Luke Jongwe took a wicket each.

Who Will Take The Responsibility – Mohammad Amir

After the loss to Zimbabwe, Mohammad Amir lashed out at Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Rameez Raja and Chief Selector Mohammad Wasim on Twitter. The 30-year-old bowler, who retired from all forms of cricket in 2019, stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman should be removed immediately.

From day one I said poor selection ab is cheez ki responsibility kon le ga I think it’s time to get rid of so-called chairman jo PCB ka khuda bana hua hai and so called chief selector.

“(From day one, I said it’s a poor selection. Who will take the responsibility? I think it’s time to get rid of the so-called PCB chairman who thinks he is the god, as well as the so-called chief selector),” Amir wrote.

Pakistan have three Group B matches left against South Africa, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh. With three wins, Babar Azam’s team can take a maximum of six points. Other results are needed to go in favour of the men in green. If this does not happen, their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign will be over.
