Temba Bavuma-led South Africa lost by 13 runs against the Netherlands in their last Super 12 match of the ICC T20 World Cup at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, November 6. The Proteas were one of the top contenders to win the World Cup, but their campaign came to an end with a shocking loss.

With the loss against the Dutch side, Proteas opened the door for Pakistan’s qualification into the semi-final. Pakistan made the most of the opportunity and beat Bangladesh by five wickets in their final Super 12 match to advance to the semi-finals alongside India from Group 2.

Aap Bahut Bade Chokers Hai – Shoaib Akhtar

Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar posted a video just before the Pakistan-Bangladesh game in which he said that the South African team proved that they are chokers and thanked them for giving Pakistan a chance to reach the semi-final.

“I have just woken up. Thank you, South Africa. Aap bahut bade chokers hai (you are very big chokers). You have given Pakistan a big chance, big thanks to you. I didn’t think that Pakistan deserved to go through to the semi-finals after losing to Zimbabwe, but Pakistan have been given a lifeline. We need to see India once all over again,” Akhtar said in the video.

Team India have also qualified for the semi-final, and they are aiming to win against Zimbabwe in their last match of the Super 12 stage so that they can top Group 2. In such a scenario, the Men in Blue will then face England in the semi-final at Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 10, while Pakistan will face New Zealand in the other semi-final.
