Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, has failed to score in the double digits during the T20 World Cup. After three games, the 28-year-old batter has only managed to score eight runs.

29 runs have been scored in Babar Azam’s last five innings, going 4,4,0,6,15. Before the world cup, he scored a couple of fifties in a New Zealand series, but he also went through a dry spell before that.

Babar Azam Feeling Pressure Of World Cup: Misbah-ul-Haq

Former Pakistani skipper Misbah-ul-Haq stated that there are many factors involved in the case of Babar Azam’s poor form. Neither there was continuity in his form nor the team was performing well. Therefore, Babar must have been under pressure as its World Cup and conditions were also not easy to bat.

“It could be many things. Most important is that his recent form wasn’t great. There was no continuity like the way he is used to. Then the team’s performance plays a role.

You get under pressure as a team. It’s the world cup, criticisms come, and all these things add up. The conditions in the three games hasn’t been easy for batting too,” Misbah said.

Babar got out for a golden duck in the opening T20I match of the World Cup against India. The team lead by Rohit Sharma prevailed in the tense match by four wickets. Azam only succeeded in scoring four runs off nine deliveries against Zimbabwe in the subsequent match. In the match, Pakistan was defeated shockingly by Zimbabwe by one run.

On Sunday, Pakistan defeated the Netherlands to get back on the winning track, but Babar’s form remained unchanged. After only scoring four runs against the Dutch opposition, he was run out throughout the game. Pakistan successfully surpassed the goal with 37 balls remaining, hence Babar’s subpar performance had no negative effects on the run chase.

Pakistan’s chances of making it to the semifinals in the T20 World Cup had already been destroyed by two straight losses. Furthermore, Pakistan’s qualification process has become more difficult as a result of South Africa’s victory over India.
