Watch: Hardik Pandya Breaks Down In Tears While Remembering His Father After India's Epic Win Over Pakistan

Hardik Pandya broke down in tears while remembering his father after India’s thrilling victory over Pakistan in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Pandya senior had tragically passed away in January last year after suffering a cardiac arrest. More than a year after that tragic incident, Hardik played a crucial role in one of India’s most thrilling wins over arch-rivals Pakistan and made sure to dedicate the win to his father.

Hardik contributed with both bat and ball as India launched their campaign in the marquee event with a 4-wicket win over Pakistan. Deciding to bowl first, the Men in Blue restricted Pakistan to 159 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. Hardik was India’s best performer with the ball, taking 3 for 30 off his 4 overs. Arshdeep Singh also picked up 3 wickets while giving away 32 runs.

For Pakistan, Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed scored fighting fifties. In reply, India were off to a disastrous start, losing KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav inside the powerplay for just 26 runs. Hardik and Virat Kohli then revived the chase with a decisive partnership of 113 runs. Hardik departed in the final over after scoring 40. Kohli, however, remained unbeaten till the end and slammed 82 to take India home.

“I was only thinking about my dad. I have not cried about my dad. I love my son, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to do for him what my dad did for me. He moved cities for a six-and-a-half-year old boy’s dreams without knowing I’d get to where I am today. So this is for him,” said Hardik before breaking down in tears.

Here is a clip of that emotional moment:
