Team India were off to a slow start in the match as the first over was a maiden and in the second over only 6 runs were scored. In the next two overs, the Indian openers scored 8 and 7 runs respectively.

In the 5th over, pacer Lungi Ngidi cleaned up the Indian captain Rohit on the 2nd ball. Ngidi bowled a short-pitched delivery and the Indian captain went for a pull shot. Rohit Sharma was undone by the extra bounce and he spliced the ball straight up in the air. Ngidi ran across to his right and completed the catch safely to dismiss the Indian captain for 15.

India and South Africa Make One Change Each To Playing XI In World Cup Clash

India National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. They made one change to the playing XI by including Deepak Hooda in place of Axar Patel. Notably, the change might have been made considering the left-hand-heavy batting nature of the South Africa National Cricket Team.

Meanwhile, the Proteas also made one change to the playing XI by including right-arm pacer Ngidi in place of spinner Tabraiz Shamsi as they needed an extra pacer on the pace-friendly surface in Perth.

At the time of writing, India were at 47/4 in 8 overs. Ngidi picked up the wickets of India’s top-3 – Rohit, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli – and Anrich Nortje dismissed Deepak Hooda.
