An all-round disciplined bowling effort led by Sikandar Raza (3/25) helped Zimbabwe stun Pakistan by one run in a thriller in Perth.

Zimbabwe’s pacers removed Pakistan’s openers in the first five overs before Sikandar Raza, in the form of his life, took two wickets in two balls and another in his next over to leave Pakistan on 94 for 6. Still, they should have fancied their chances. Pakistan needed 38 runs in the last five overs. Pakistan needed 11 to win off the final over of a pulsating evening, and that equation came down to three from three with the well-set Mohammad Nawaz at the crease.

But 25-year-old pacer Brad Evans produced three stunning deliveries right when it mattered. It still was at three needed off three but Brad Evans, playing his first game of this ICC T20 World Cup 2022 picked 2 scalps to flip the whole entire script.

After being 31/4 in the Powerplay one would say it was quite a close game. But apart from Colin Ackermann and a few lusty blows from Paul van Meekeren, there were hardly any contributions. Bangladesh just kept picking wickets throughout the innings as the Netherlands did in the first innings.

Defending, pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/9) and Arshdeep Singh (2/37) and the spin duo of Axar Patel (2/18) and Ravichandran Ashwin (2/21) shone bright with the ball for India.
