Trent Bridge in Nottingham is all set to host the second Test between England and New Zealand from June 10. England are leading the series 1-0 heading into this Test match. The next Test is a must-win to keep the series alive for the Kiwis.

A loss would end their hopes of a series win. England have named an unchanged XI for the second Test with Jack Leech deemed fit and available to play after completing a mandatory seven-day conclusion return protocol.

Both teams are languishing at the bottom of the ICC WTC 2021-23 points table. New Zealand are placed seventh with 28 points and England with 30. Kiwis are above the England team courtesy of their better percentage point.

England have made a brilliant start under Ben Stokes‘ era as Test captain. They won at Lord’s with former skipper Joe Root getting back into scoring runs. He went past 10000 Test runs and became the only second England batsman to do so. They have a great advantage heading into the second Test having familiarity with the conditions.

The Kiwis need to start from scratch. They need their skipper Kane Williamson back in form. He has been struggling since the IPL 2022. He has been ruled out of the second Test due to a positive COVID-19 report. In the first Test, he scored just and 15 in the two innings. The rest of the batters could not contribute substantially after both teams lost quick wickets in their first innings. For New Zealand to win, Williamson must return to form.
