Talking about the third Test, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal started off well but were able to score only 12 & 15 runs. However, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli had a good 62 runs partnership before the former was dismissed by Marco Jansen at the score of 43.

Then Virat Kohli stood strong on one end and scored good 79 runs off 201 balls and India kept losing wickets at regular intervals and they were bundled out for 223. On the bowling side of things, Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen were able to pick 4 & 3 wickets respectively.

South Africa’s batting in their first innings was also not much impressive as only Keegan Petersen scored brilliant 72 runs and no one else crossed the 30 runs mark. Jasprit Bumrah was the MVP in this innings for India as he bagged a sensational 5-wicket haul.

Meanwhile, India’s batting performance in their second innings was just terrible as only two batters – Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant – crossed the 20 runs mark. Skipper Kohli was dismissed at the score of 29 and Rishabh Pant went on to smash a sensational unbeaten 100. Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen and Lungi Ngidi shared all 10 wickets between them and they bundled out India at the score of 198.

South Africa got the decent target of 212 runs to chase with more than 2 days remaining. Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram provided a decent start to the team and the latter got out after scoring 16. However, Dean Elgar and Keegan Petersen batted brilliantly and they added 78 runs before the former got out and at Stumps, on Day 3, South Africa were at 101/2.

At Lunch, South Africa were at 171/3 in 55.0 overs and they needed just 41 runs to win. After that Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen, had a half-century partnership and they marched South Africa towards a comfortable victory.
