The two giants of World Cricket India & Australia are all set to lock horns against each other in the WTC 2019-21 final slated to begin on 7th June (*Wednesday) at The Oval. The two spinners Ravichandran Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja would be fighting for one spot. Ravichandran Ashwin may get the nod due to his variations.

It won’t be wrong to say that Australia hold a slight edge over India. The duo of Labuschagne & Smith will have to grind the bowlers as the conditions would be pace friendly as the batters will have to play the waiting game and then capitalize on loose deliveries.

Australia’s lethal speedsters Mitchell Starc & Pat Cummins would be fresh after opting out of the grueling IPL 2023. Scott Boland looks the like for like replacement for Josh Hazlewood for the octane clash.

We will be aiming for two world titles- Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin was seen speaking on his YouTube channel. Ashwin took a unique stance and said that the side are aiming to win 2 championships: ICC WTC 2021-23 & ODI WC 2023 (*scheduled later in the year in October-November 2023).

“So many Indians will be coming for the match. For the first time, so many people are asking for passes to come and watch us in the finals. It will be a great year for India since we have a 50-over World Cup after this,” said Ravichandran Ashwin.

“We will be aiming for two world titles in the same year. Keep us in your prayers. This will definitely need luck. There is no doubt about that. Both teams are playing their first match of the season, so both teams will be equally nervous,” he added.

We have had some extraordinary, excellent practice so far- Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin mentioned that the crop of players have had an extraordinary practice so far and the side are pumped up for the challenge. Ashwin pointed out that this match is his biggest occasion.

“We have had some extraordinary, excellent practice so far. We are fully excited. It is not going to be easy for both teams. We are coming from our T20 season, and Australia are coming back from their break,” said Ravichandran Ashwin.

“I am really excited to see how this unfolds. Probably, in recent times, this is one of my biggest matches. If you ask me, this is a huge occasion. This is the second WTC final. But we all don’t know,” he added.

Ashwin was quite excited about the challenge and pointed out that every ICC event has its festive feel and gave the credit to ICC for making arrangements more enthralling.

“Even the ICC tweeted recently. We don’t know how it will pan out. I am greatly looking forward to it. The ground is getting prepared for the big event. Every ICC event will have this festive feel,” he stated.

“The ICC will plan these events 6-7 months before. But this time, 6-7 months before, they mailed both the teams about how the practice will be and that the match will be at The Oval. So, preparation-wise, they did not leave anything out for both teams,” he added.
