Most Wickets In ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 So Far

The ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 is underway at the moment with various teams playing against each other. Australia is playing against Pakistan, England are facing West Indies and India are hosting Sri Lanka currently at home. Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are the top three teams at the moment. While Bangladesh, West Indies and England are the bottom three teams at the moment.

The points table is changing after every Test match and after every series with teams making a lot of movement within the table. There is still a lot of cricket to be played and the bottom-ranked team have enough time to rise up the ranks in the points table.

Meanwhile, in this article, we take a look at the boilers with the most wickets so far in this edition of the tournament.

Most Wickets In ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 So Far

Jasprit Bumrah – 35 Wickets, Average 20.40

The Indian pacer leads the list with 35 wickets in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 so far. He also bagged his first fifer at home in the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. Bumrah is amongst the most recognised pacers across formats in world cricket at the moment and his performances back the saying so far.

Ollie Robinson- 32 Wickets, Average 22.78

Despite England losing the Ashes series against Australia, Ollie Robinson was one of the England bowlers who was amongst the wickets. Robinson picked 13 wickets and was the third-highest wicket-taker in the series. Robinson is a part of the England squad that is playing a Test series against West Indies and without the likes of Broad and Anderson, a lot rests on his shoulders.

Mohammed Shami- 30 Wickets, Average 23

Shami, Kagiso Rabada and Shaheen Afridi are the next three bowlers on this list all with 30 wickets so far in the second edition of the tournament. Shami along with Bumrah has been spearheading the Indian attack in Test cricket for a few years now will be expected to do so for a few more years.

He picked 14 wickets in the series against South Africa and five in two Tests so far against Sri Lanka. In the series against England last year, he took 11 wickets from three Tests.

Kagiso Rabada- 30 Wickets, Average 20.00

Rabada ranks fourth in this list of bowlers with 30 wickets so far. 20 of his 30 wickets so far came in the series against India where he picked the most wickets in the series. The series saw him bowl at his very best and disturb the best of batters.

He will be playing next when Bangladesh tours the rainbow nation for three ODIs followed by two Tests. He is then expected to be a member of the squad that tours India for five T20Is.

Shaheen Afridi- 30 Wickets, Average 15.53

Afridi with 30 wickets ranks fifth in this elite list of bowlers with the most wickets in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23. He has the best average among all the bowlers. Currently, he is a part of the Pakistan side that is playing a Test series against Australia.
