Sri Lanka and Pakitan will play the third and final Test match at Gale starting from July 24. Pakistan won the first Test and will look to complete a whitewash by winning the second. Sri Lanka needs to win the second test to level the series. The Test series is a part of the ongoing ICC WTC.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan both played their last Test series against Australia. The Lankans levelled the series 1-1 while Pakistan lost the series 1-0. Both teams have a lot to play for in this final Test as they have different motives associated with it. Meanwhile, The visitors will be missing the services of Shaheen Afridi in the second Test as he has been ruled out with a knee injury.

“He will stay with the Test side in Sri Lanka, where his initial rehabilitation and management will continue under the supervision of the team’s medical staff,” the PCB statement read confirming his absence from the Test match.

The second Test will be a landmark for Angelo Mathews who will play his 100th Test match. The former skipper is the most experienced Test player in the current squad with a wealth of runs. He would like to make the Test match memorable by scoring some runs.

“Playing 100 Test matches is a remarkable thing. We want to give Angelo a memorable game. We will try our best and correct the mistakes” said Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne on Mathews’s 100th Test match.

The second SL vs PAK Test match starts from July 24 in Galle. Rain threat is looming large over the Test match along with scattered thunderstorms on different days of the contest. The temperature will stay on a maximum of around 30 degrees throughout the five days.

40 Test matches have been played at this venue with 21 matches won batting first and 13 batting second. Pakistan won the first test by chasing a score of 343 in the first Test.
