Updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table After West Indies vs England 1st Test

The first Test between West Indies and England has ended in a draw in Antigua. It has also yielded some changes in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 points table. On the other hand, two Test matches are going on simultaneously. India are playing Sri Lanka in the second Test match while Australia and Pakitan are also playing in their Tets match.

England and West Indies remain the bottom two teams in the ICC World Test Championship points table. Windies (12) and England (10) have percentage points of 25 and 9.25 respectively. The second Test was all about the batters from both teams scoring runs. Jonny Bairstow scored a century for England in the first innings which was overshadowed by Nkrumah Bonner’s brilliant 123 to keep his team in the game. Joe Root and Zak Crawley then scored centuries in the second England innings with the England bowlers taking just four Windies wickets in the second innings.

The points table is led by Australia with 56 points and a percentage point of 77.77. Pakistan are placed second with 40 points and a percentage point of 66.66. After the stalemate in Rawalpindi, the track in Karachi also seems to be a batting-friendly one with the Aussies posting 253 on day 1.

The Day-night Test match between India and Sri Lanka saw plenty of action on day 1. The Lankans bowled out India for 252 in their first innings with their spinners making an impact on the game. Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama picked three wickets each as Dhananjaya de Silva picked two including the big wicket of Virat Kohli.

India came back and took six wickets to get Sri Lanka down to 86/6 in their first innings at stumps. Making the use of the early swing and pace Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets while Mohammed Shami took two. Axar Patel took one as well.

Australia Lead ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 Points Table

As far as the standing of the two teams is concerned, Sri Lanka are placed third with percentage points of 66.66 similar to that of Pakistan. They have got 24 points so far. India, on the other hand, are placed fifth with total point of 65 and percentage points of 54.16.
