India and West Indies take on each other in the fifth and final T20I of the series on Sunday, August 7 in Florida. This is the last of the two games to be played at Lauderhill. The visitors won the fourth game by 59 runs and are leading the series 3-1. Both teams are still trying to figure out their possible playing combination for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. Middle-order seems to be the major concern for both teams and the respective captains have addressed the issue after the first game.

India will play a few more T20I games in the build-up to the event in Australia. After the ongoing series, they play the Asia Cup which will be played in the UAE. They then host Australia and South Africa for two back-to-back T20I series. They will play close to 15-16 T20Is in the World Cup in Australia.

Meanwhile, after a lot of initial problems, the Indian and Windies players were issues their visas after the intervention of the Guyanese President.

“It was a timely and influential diplomatic effort by His Excellency,” said Ricky Skerritt, the president of Cricket West Indies (CWI), thanking the head of the Guyana government on August 4.

After the win in the third T20I, Rohit made it very clear about India’s approach towards batting heading into the T20 World Cup. He also made it clear that they would keep on experimenting with players as they play the games against Australia and South Africa at home after the series against West Indies.

The hosts are yet to play their best game in the series. They gave a glimpse of their ability by winning the second T20I but again fell flat in the third T20I. They are not clicking together with the ball and bat which is required to win games in T20I cricket. The fourth T20I was another game where the Windies batting lineup collapsed under the scoreboard pressure.

“We know they got off to a flying start, but I was happy with the way our guys came back. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a partnership, it was a par score. Not ideal to get run out, it changed the game. There was some miscommunication. But the other guys could have put their hands up and taken us over the line” said skipper Nicholas Pooran who thought his run out was the turning point in the game. He scored 24 off 8 balls before a miscommunication with Kyle Mayers ended up with Pooran’s run out.
