Parthiv Patel, a former keeper-batter, believes that while Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been very effective in terms of leadership, his bowling variations are becoming a little too predictable. He made note of the Indian captain’s preference for inserting a left-arm spinner after the first six overs.

On Saturday, August 6 in Lauderhill, during the fourth T20I match against the West Indies, Axar Patel entered the game and bowled the fifth over. He gave up 22 runs after being hit for four and three sixes by Nicholas Pooran, who also ran him out with the final ball.

Team India succeeded in winning the fourth T20I by 59 runs while holding off a total of 191 and secured a solid 3-1 series lead. Parthiv Patel spoke on Rohit’s leadership during a conversation on Cricbuzz, saying:

“Yes, that pattern (Rohit is captaincy) is there for anyone to observe. The fourth or fifth over is typically bowled by a left-arm spinner. When he played, Ravindra Jadeja always bowled the fourth or fifth over. Axar arrived Saturday as well. Arshdeep Singh could have been able to bowl that over.”

Parthiv Patel praises Arshdeep Singh for his brilliant yorkers:

Parthiv Patel hailed Arshdeep, a left-arm seamer, for his magnificent yorkers at the end. He also gave the Indian fielders praise for keeping the ball in play. The 37-year-old said:

“How Arshdeep threw those inswinging yorkers with the tiniest amount of wicket assistance was very impressive.”

“To obtain that reverse, the Indian team is keeping the ball pretty well. If you can accomplish that in a 20-over cricket match, you must be skilled. However, the Indian squad is undoubtedly doing a great job of maintaining the ball.”

Arshdeep continued to impress, completing the game with 3 for 12 in 3.1 overs. His magnificent yorkers removed Obed McCoy (2) and Dominic Drakes (5).
