The 30-year-old right-arm speedster Navdeep Saini will most likely replace the premier pacer Mohammed Shami in India’s squad for the forthcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team, according to a TOI report.
The first Test match of the series will be played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from December 14 to 18 and the second Test will be played from December 22 to 26 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Premier pacer Shami had sustained a shoulder injury during a training session in the lead-up to the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh and got ruled out of the series. The BCCI selection committee named Umran Malik as Shami’s replacement in the ODI team.
Meanwhile, TOI is reporting that Shami has not fully recovered from his shoulder injury and Saini, who is currently in Bangladesh as a part of the India A squad, will be included in the Test squad.
Navdeep Saini last played a Test match for India in January 2021 against Australia in Brisbane. In the first four-day match against Bangladesh A at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground in Cox’s Bazar, Saini bagged four wickets (3-21 & 1-52).
Abhimanyu Easwaran To Replace Rohit Sharma If He Gets Ruled Out Of The Test Series – Reports
India A captain Abhimanyu Easwaran is likely to be included in the Test squad for the series against Bangladesh as a replacement for Rohit Sharma, if he gets ruled out, as per TOI.
Notably, the India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma sustained a thumb injury while fielding in slip cordon during the second ODI against Bangladesh National Cricket Team at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.
“According to sources, opener Abhimanyu Easwaran is set to be called in as Rohit Sharma’s replacement, if the Indian captain fails to recover from a finger injury he sustained during the second ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Wednesday,” TOI report stated.
Also, left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar will reportedly replace Ravindra Jadeja in the squad for the Bangladesh Tests. Notably, several reports have stated that Jadeja has not yet recovered from his knee injury.
