Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli’s former coach, expressed his disappointment over the batter’s dismissal on Day 3 of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Dhaka.

He expressed disappointment at Kohli’s struggle against Bangladesh’s spin attack in an interview with India News Sports. He underlined that the right-handed batter should have tried to play freely because an offensive field was put up for him.

Notably, Kohli got into a heated argument with a few Bangladeshi players after being dismissed on Friday, December 24. Given his ward’s combative demeanor, Sharma also said that these things occasionally occur.

“A batter is quite disappointed once he goes out, and Virat Kohli is quite aggressive by nature, But the way he has been getting out is not acceptable. It’s disappointing to see a batter of his calibre struggle against Bangladeshi spinners. He should have been more focused,” Rajkumar Sharma said.

“He could have played more freely with both the mid-on and mid-off fielders inside the circle. He won’t let you play unless you unsettle a spinner. You must be creative, such as performing a slog sweep or sweeping an outside off ball,” Rajkumar Sharma Added.

“Virat Kohli has always played with a positive approach”: Saba Karim

Saba Karim advised during the aforementioned conversation that Virat Kohli and KL Rahul not play against their nature in Test cricket. He pointed out that while Kohli and Rahul used to play with good intentions, they haven’t been successful in doing so lately, which has contributed to their failure. Karim continued:

“In Test cricket, Virat Kohli has consistently performed with a good attitude. But if you act contrary to your nature, you will experience these outcomes. KL Rahul is experiencing a similar situation. You must use several patterns according to the forms.”

During India’s second innings of the Dhaka Test, Kohli got out for just one run. He finished with 45 runs from four innings in the current two-match series in Bangladesh without producing any meaningful runs.
