Apart from Mominul Haque, the rest of Bangladesh’s top five were guilty of getting off to a good start but failing to convert it into meaningful scores on Day 1. India hasn’t fared much better, with Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Cheteshwar Pujara all falling in the opening session. Taijul Islam claimed all three wickets.
Bangladesh’s shift in bowling strategy paid off as Taskin Ahmed induced Virat Kohli’s edge behind the stumps to pick up a wicket in the second over after lunch. India are in peril after Taijul Islam took three wickets in the first session.

Mehidy Hasanhurt himself while attempting to take a stunner in the gully area. When the ball smashed into his fingers and sailed through the air, Mehidy fell on his face and wounded himself.
Mehidy Hasan leaped to his right with one hand while the ball skimmed his hand, landing face first. When he lands, he slams his face into the ground and needs help from the physio. Mehidy Hasan eventually walks off.
