Chasing a modest total, senior wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim was expected to take Bangladesh past the finish line, but it didn’t happen as he played a poor knock of 18 runs in 45 balls, before being cleaned up by Siraj on the first ball of the 36th over.

Siraj delivered a back-of-a-length ball on the off-stump and it darted back in sharply with good bounce. The Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter tried to play a shot on the off-side, but he only managed to drag the ball onto the stumps off his gloves.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field first in the match. Batting first, India’s top-3 – Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma – were wiped out inside 11 overs. Shreyas Iyer scored 24 runs and Washington Sundar chipped in with 19 runs while other all-rounders – Shahbaz Ahmed, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar – failed miserably with the bat.
