Former England captain Michael Vaughan felt that Jos Buttler and co. will settle into the white-ball formats very soon with the batting lineup but the bowling attack is where the concern lies.

In the T20I series against India, Chris Jordan was the stand-out performer but the rest of the bowlers were hit or miss. Even in the first ODI that England lost by 10 wickets, the pacers were found wanting on a surface that was helpful for the seamers.

Not concerned about England’s batting in white-ball cricket as they will eventually come good. But I have one or two concerns about bowling. If there’s movement on offer, they have enough bowlers to be competitive.

Otherwise, they will always miss someone like Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, and Adil Rashid. You don’t grow many Jasprit Bumrah’s everywhere, he is up there with the greats of the game,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.

The 10-wicket thumping that India handed out is the first since 2011 for Buttler’s men. They have been the dominating side in white-ball cricket in recent times but the mauling they suffered against India is a wake-up call.

You can’t really analyze these sort of games. You just need to move on from them quickly. The best way for England to get out of this situation is to get a win and get back on track.

[I] Don’t think they will make any changes unless a forced change because then it sends panic. They need to show faith in the playing XI,” Zaheer Khan mentioned.

The second ODI gets underway at Lord’s in London on July 14, Thursday.
