The Indian team’s new bowl bowlers continued to terrorise English batters even after the format changed here on Tuesday. The new ball pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami sent half of the English team to the dugout in the first eight overs.

Particularly in deadly form, Jasprit Bumrah struck out four English batters. He had three batters who were out for ducks as he showed his class as he utilised the conditions to his advantage.

The four batsmen who were struck out by Bumrah were Liam Livingstone, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Jason Roy.

As a partnership was developing for the 9th wicket, Bumrah returned and got the wicket of Brydon Carse. He also got rid of David Willey and picked up his first 6-wicket haul in ODIs.

This was his best bowling figure in the format and third-best for an Indian bowler behind only Stuart Binny and Anil Kumble.

Jasprit Bumrah was declared the player of the match for his performance, “When there is a swing to offer and seam movement, it is exciting times for white-ball cricket. Very happy when there was some help for us in the beginning. When I bowled the first ball, I saw some swing; If there is no swing, you pull your length back. When the ball is doing something, you don’t have to try too much. But when the wicket is flat, your accuracy is tested. As soon as he [Shami] bowled the first over, we felt he can go fuller since there was some help. He had a discussion with me that we should go fuller.

Very happy for him, but when he beats the bat, I told him there will be a day when he runs through sides! When the bowling is moving around, the slip cordon and keeper are very active. Very happy for Pant for his catches,” Bumrah said in the post-match presentation.
