Deepak Hooda was the star of India’s T20I series against Ireland. The right-hander concluded the two games with 151 runs, becoming Team India’s leading scorer for the series.

Even better, he scored 104 runs in the second T20I, becoming only the fourth Indian batsman to ever reach the century mark in T20Is. Because of his outstanding achievements, he even received the Man of the Series award.

Deepak Hooda Loses His Place In Playing XI Despite Showing Fantastic Form

The majority of the regular players rested for the opening T20I of the three-match series against England. Hooda thus took the third position in the line-up. He scored 33 runs off 17 deliveries in an aggressive performance that featured three fours and two sixes.

Hooda’s effort was essential to India collecting 198 runs in the first innings, despite Hardik Pandya leading the team in scoring with 51 runs. India defeated the opponent by a massive 50-run margin.

Hooda has, however, lost his spot in the starting XI following the return of regular players in the second T20I. Hooda was left out even in the third T20I, which is essentially a dead rubber game, as Shreyas Iyer was chosen ahead of him.

Would Have Played Deepak Hooda If I Was The Captain: RP Singh

Former India bowler RP Singh disagrees with this choice, believing that players should be chosen based on their current form.

“You must play someone who is in form, Deepak Hooda was in form as he has scored so many runs. But by playing Iyer, you are trying to get him back in his form which is beyond my understanding. If I was the captain, I would have played Deepak Hooda,” Singh said in an interaction with Cricbuzz.

In the upcoming T20I series versus England, India is currently dominating. The first two T20Is were easily won by them by 50 and 49 runs, respectively. As a result, they have established an unbeatable advantage and will try to win the third T20I to sweep the Three Lions.
