Former Pakistani spinner Danish Kaneria criticised Virat Kohli for his poor performance with the bat in the second T20I.
For quite some time, India’s top batter, Virat Kohli, has struggled to score big runs. He had a disappointing IPL 2022 season, and his poor form has now spread to international cricket.
On Saturday, July 9, during the second T20I match between India and England at Edgbaston, Virat Kohli made his eagerly anticipated comeback to the Indian T20I team after more than four months. But his comeback didn’t go as well as he had intended. The former captain of India had a forgettable day at the plate in Birmingham, scoring just one run off of three balls.
The in-form hitter Deepak Hooda, who just scored a century against Ireland, was replaced in the playing XI by the right-handed batter since he was available for selection in the second game. Virat, though, fell short of the mark and was quickly sent to the dugout.
Virat is becoming a liability to the team: Danish Kaneria
Former Pakistani spinner Danish Kaneria criticised Kohli for his poor performance with the bat in the second T20I and issued a warning to the 33-year-old to get back on the right track soon or expect to lose his spot to another player.
The former cricketer Danish Kaneria added on his YouTube channel: “Even when the big guns weren’t present, the team still performed, and the young players did their jobs. The major player needs to realise that he is turning into a liability for the group. Virat Kohli is currently a liability. Therefore, he must either give up his position or return before the T20 World Cup.”
On Saturday, India defeated England by 49 runs in the second T20 International to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
