On Tuesday, July 12, India defeated England in the first ODI of the series by a score of 10 wickets, giving them a victory and moving them up in the ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings. With 108 points, India has past Pakistan to move up the standings and into third place.

India was in fourth place with 105 points prior to the match, but the decisive victory allowed them to surpass Pakistan, who is currently in fourth place with 106 points. World Champions England hold in the second spot, ahead of India, with 122 points, while New Zealand is ranked first with 126 points.

Dream Spell From Jasprit Bumrah Demolish English Batting

Jasprit Bumrah was the main contributor for the Men in Blue as England crumbled to their lowest ODI total (110) against India with a six-wicket haul. Apart from Bumrah, other pacers who had successful days were Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad Shami. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan did the work for their team after limiting England to a low score.

While Dhawan gave the skipper the greatest support as he approached the game gently and eventually scored an undefeated 54-ball 31, Sharma stayed unbeaten for a 58-ball 78. The pair concluded the game early and secured a significant victory for visitors by chasing down the score in 18.4 overs, leaving the English bowlers without a wicket.

India And Pakistan Fight For Third Spot In ODI Rankings

Many teams have lately made significant gains in the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings. While Pakistan had moved up to third place last month after defeating the West Indies by a score of 3-0, England’s victory over the Netherlands left them in a commanding position.

Australia suffered a significant setback when they lost the ODI series against Sri Lanka last month by a score of 3-2, giving the Lankans a historic victory.

Prior to playing West Indies in a three-match series, India will play two more one-day internationals against England. Because Pakistan is also set to play a series against the Netherlands next month, the Men in Blue stand a solid opportunity of continuing their winning streak as well as maintaining their ranking.
