Rohit Sharma underlined India’s missed fielding opportunities as England scored 246 runs in the second One-Day International at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Reece Topley took six wickets as the hosts beat the Men in Blue by 100 runs to tie the series 1-1.
After a beating 10-wicket win over England in the first ODI, India was dealt a wake-up call when the hosts hammered the tourists by 100 runs in the second ODI.

Since the Indian bowlers performed admirably in the second ODI as well, the batters were a huge letdown. The India captain, Rohit Sharma, was quick to highlight all of the mistakes made by his team on Thursday at Lord’s.

The favorite competition was the Indian squad. In the second ODI, Yuzvendra Chahal used his magic with the ball to notch up a 4-wicket haul, following Jasprit Bumrah’s remarkable performance at the Oval. The Men in Blue made a few mistakes in the field, but England still managed to score a respectable total of 249 runs. In particular, Prasidh Krishna’s missed catch of David Willey cost India dearly.
‘I believed the pitch would improve steadily‘: Rohit Sharma
Rohit highlighted the missed opportunities for India during the post-game awards ceremony, allowing England to score a respectable total on a difficult surface.

“We started bowling fairly well. Moeen and Willey were the middlemen in their partnership. That objective was attainable, but we did not bat properly. We have been discussing having to take catches a lot. We bowled fairly well overall. took me off guard (the pitch). I believed the pitch would improve steadily,” he remarked.
Rohit is looking forward to an exciting battle between the two teams, who have split the series with one victory each, in Manchester for the series’ final game.
