The team’s successful chase of 378 runs on Tuesday was a first for England in Test matches. At Edgbaston in Birmingham, India, under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, was the victim of England’s historic achievement.
With seven wickets remaining, the Ben Stokes-led team was able to complete their victory over India in 76.4 overs thanks to the unbroken 269-run stand between Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow.

When England was 109/3 at one point, the visitors had reason to believe they could win, but unbroken centuries from Root and Bairstow utterly eliminated any possibility.

In the last innings of the game, Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets for 74 runs while all the other Indian bowlers went without a wicket. Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur, who bowled at economy rates of 6.5 and 5.9, respectively, were the two most costly bowlers in the innings.
Sanjay Manjrekar Unhappy With Indian Pace Duo
Sanjay Manjrekar, a former cricketer for India, believes that Thakur has lost some of his effectiveness from about one and a half years ago when playing Test cricket.

“I think Shardul Thakur is not the same bowler we saw in Test cricket, maybe 18 months back,” said Manjrekar on SonyLIV after the match.
While talking about Siraj, the former India batter said: “I have been watching Mohammed Siraj’s evolution as a bowler. The seam-up delivery has just gone.”
India scored 416 runs in the game after being asked to bat first. The visitors then bowled England out for 284 to grab a 132-run advantage after the first inning. England successfully chased down the 378-run goal by scoring at a pace of nearly five runs per over while the Jasprit Bumrah-led team struggled in their second innings and was bowled out for 245.
