IND vs ENG: Virat Kohli Has Had A Tough Time And He Knows That; I See Him Coming Back And Doing Well – Sourav Ganguly

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly backed star batter Virat Kohli, who has been struggling for runs, saying that he will soon make a strong comeback and will perform well for India.

Virat Kohli is going through a lean patch for an extended period of time. After a poor run in the Indian Premier League 2022, he played a Test match against England and managed to score just 11 and 20 runs in two innings.

Also, in the two T20I games against England, he scored 1 and 11 runs. He missed out on the first ODI against England due to a mild groin strain and few reports state that he will also miss the second ODI of the series.

Meanwhile, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that Virat Kohli has got great ability and quality that’s why he has got extraordinary numbers in international cricket. Ganguly added that the former India captain is aware of his poor form and he needs to “find his way and become successful”.

“Of course, look at the numbers he has got in international cricket that doesn’t happen without ability and quality. Yes, he has had a tough time and he knows that. He has been a great player himself. He himself knows by his own standards it has not been good and I see him coming back and doing well.

“But he has got to find his way and become successful, which he has been for the last 12-13 years or more and only Virat Kohli can do that, ” said BCCI President Sourav Ganguly while speaking to ANI.

Ganguly added that every cricketer goes through a lean patch during his career as it is a “part and parcel of sport”. He also gave the example of legendary batters Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, who had a tough phase in international cricket during a period of time.

“These things will happen in sport. It has happened to everybody. It has happened to Sachin, It has happened to Rahul, it has happened to me, it has happened to Kohli. It is going to happen to future players. That’s part and parcel of sport and I think as a sportsman you just need to listen, be aware of what it is and just go and play your game, ” explained Sourav Ganguly.
