The cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra, ahead of the second ODI of the three-match series between India and England, said that the uncertainty over Virat Kohli’s availability and form is “ a million-dollar question” for India National Cricket Team.

India won the first ODI game of the series against England by 10 wickets with the help of Jasprit Bumrah’s sensational six-wicket haul and Rohit Sharma’s aggressive innings. The second game of the series will be played at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, London on Thursday.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel ahead of the second ODI between India National Cricket Team and England National Cricket Team, Aakash Chopra said:

“Will Virat Kohli be available because a big point of discussion is that whether Virat will be there or not, if he is there how will be, will he score runs if he is fit? That’s been a million-dollar question.”

“I feel Virat Kohli is still not available, I feel the injury is not fully healed, although there is no official confirmation. In fact, there are even question marks on his inclusion in the team being picked for the West Indies T20Is.”

Notably, Kohli missed out on the first ODI against England due to a mild groin strain and a few reports state that he will also miss the second ODI of the series.

I don’t see any change in strategy or game plan – Aakash Chopra

Former India opener Aakash Chopra further said that he doesn’t see India National Cricket Team making any changes to the playing XI for the second ODI. He added that there could be a change in the batting order if opener Shikhar Dhawan gets out early on in the innings.

“I don’t see a scope of even one change in this team. Both openers, Shreyas at No. 3, Suryakumar Yadav at No. 4, Pant at No. 5 and Hardik at No. 6. But these days Pant is sent at No. 4 quite a few times, that we want a left-hander in the middle.

“If Shikhar Dhawan gets out, that might happen. Other than that, I don’t see any change in strategy or game plan. They will go with the same team is what I feel if everybody is fit and available.”

India recently won the three-match T20I series against England in a dominant fashion by 2-1 and the win in the second ODI against England will ensure them a series victory.
