India face-off against Ireland in a two-match T20I series on June 26 and 28. Both the matches will be played in Malahide, Ireland’s venue for home matches in recent years. Ireland will have teams like South Africa, New Zealand and Afghanistan touring the country after the series against India in a long home season.
The BCCI and Ireland Cricket Board have announced their respective squads for the two-match T20I series. Ireland has not played any competitive game in either of the three formats since featuring in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2022 in February. The hosts will be led by Andrew Balbirnie while India will be led by Hardik Pandya.
Both teams have faced each other in three T20I matches with India winning all three games. India last toured the Irish shores in a two-match T20I series in 2018. Ireland have announced a 14-member side while India a 17-member squad for the two-match series.
While India will play the two-match T20I series, the Indian Test side is already playing a warm-up match against English county club Leicestershire. The Ireland series is a chance for the players included making a mark to be reckoned for the T20 World Cup later this year in Australia. India will play three T20Is and three ODIs against England after the one-off Test as well.
