The 1st T20I match between India and New Zealand was abandoned due to rain. India would be utterly disappointed due to this washout as a lot of youngsters were ready to make a case for themselves. With only 2 T20Is left now, the Cricketers don’t have any time to get used to the conditions. With Rohit Sharma rested, Hardik Pandya has been given the responsibility to lead the team.

With a lot of senior players given a rest, the likes of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer would be hoping to make a case for themselves. Shreyas Iyer would be dejected after missing out on the main squad for 2 times as he can be unstoppable on a given day.

Ajay Jadeja on Rohit Sharma

Ajay Jadeja was having an interaction in the post-match show on Amazon Prime Video and made a huge remark about Rohit Sharma. “If any young cricketer is not playing for the country, he has the opportunity to go around the world and experience (playing in global T20 leagues). But if somebody is playing for their country and the team needs them and they are away for (playing in) the leagues then there’s a problem, especially in India as we are emotional people. I know it’s not gonna happen but it’s natural.” said Ajay Jadeja.

“If I was 22, and I had the opportunity to go around the world, maybe I’d say I want to take a break from the Bangladesh tour or I won’t go on tours which aren’t very exciting. Against the biggest teams in the world, nobody is gonna miss it but it’s the small teams that will suffer. And there are a lot more teams now. The associate nations are getting better, so you will have more tours and you’ll find more players taking breaks. Not just players, even captains at the moment.” he added.

Crucial Tour for Hardik Pandya

The flamboyant all-rounder would be well aware of the fact that he is considered the next T20I leader of the team. The player has shown great captaincy skills in his maiden stint in IPL 2022 where Gujarat Titans (GT) won the title.

Hardik Pandya may promote himself up of the order to provide stability to the innings. The Men in Blue would be hoping to continue their winning run against New Zealand as last time they had won the Series by 5-0 in 2020 in New Zealand.
