Dinesh Karthik shared his opinion on whether selectors should appoint Hardik Pandya as the future captain of India following the series victory in New Zealand.

The Men in Blue won despite the fact that it may not have been how this redesigned Team India would have preferred to begin their post-T20 World Cup time.

The third Twenty20 International between India and New Zealand finished in a tie via the DLS method on Tuesday in Napier, giving the visitors the victory in the three-match series. India was captained by Hardik Pandya as he continued his team’s unbeaten streak. Dinesh Karthik made a decision regarding whether the selectors should make Hardik the future captain of India after the victory. The all-rounder served as India’s captain when vice-captain KL Rahul and regular captain Rohit Sharma took a break.

Given Rohit Sharma’s advanced age and India’s continued poor performance in the T20 World Cup in Australia, Hardik has received a lot of praise from veterans and experts in the game to take over the helm in T20I cricket. India won the series in New Zealand 1-0 under his leadership, just as he had before guided India to a 2-0 series victory in Ireland.

“Hardik Pandya had a very good series”: Dinesh Karthik

Hardik had the opportunity to make his case as a future India leader, even though the series’ main focus was on how India would recover from the World Cup and how the fringe players would capitalize on their opportunities.

As per Karthik, Hardik certainly did impress, especially with his fielding decisions.

“Despite the fact that it was a very short series, he had a very good series. I believe he called all of the correct shots in the brief time he was on the field” Dinesh Karthik told Cricbuzz.

“What was significant even today was that when India was trailing, when New Zealand was batting in the 15th over, to pull it back with the proper bowling changes and the right field set was exciting to witness. And then obviously makes a statement with the bat” Dinesh Karthik Added.

“It demonstrates a leader who is willing to express himself and walk the walk,” he told Cricbuzz.

The New Zealand tour will now shift to a three-match One-Day International series, which will begin on Friday in Auckland.
