Despite his outstanding form in the T20 format, Sanju Samson was not named to Team India’s squad for the T20 World Cup. When the Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain was named to Hardik Pandya’s team for the three-match T20I series against New Zealand, fans anticipated the wicketkeeper-batter to get his chance.

But things have gone worse for Samson, who was only on the bench during the series, which concluded on Monday. So it’s not surprising that former India cricketer Dodda Ganesh resorted to Twitter to criticize the Hardik Pandya-led team management for not giving the 28-year-old a chance.

Hard To Fathom That Sanju Samson Is Still Not Getting A Game: Dodda Ganesh

Taking to Twitter, Ganesh questioned Samson’s exclusion and wrote, “Sanju Samson still doesn’t get a game. Hard to fathom this #DoddaMathu #crickettwitter #NZvIND”.

He also thought Samson should have started before Iyer, and he asked the “Indian think tank” to learn from their failures. “By picking Iyer ahead of Samson the Indian think tank has reiterated that they’ll not learn from their mistakes and they shall never change their approach towards T20 #DoddaMathu #crickettwitter”, he wrote.

Meanwhile, one fan challenged his critique of Iyer’s choice, to which he responded, “It’s not about a player doing wrong. Samson is better suited for T20s than Iyer. The think tank need to understand this. Iyer is a quality ODI player.”

3rd T20I Ends As A Tie After Rain Interrupts India’s Chase

India batted first in the third and final T20I, with Rishabh Pant as the wicketkeeper-batter and Shreyas Iyer at No. 4. India could only tie the match after winning the second T20I. When rain fell severely in Napier, the hosts had reached 160 in 19.4 overs and India had 75/4 in 9 overs.

According to the DLS method, India needed to score 76 runs in 9 overs with four wickets down to win the match if it did not resume. As it turned out, the rain was heavy enough for the umpires to call the game off, and because India was tied with the DLS score, the game finished in a tie. The series concluded 1-0 in favour of India.

India will play New Zealand in a three-match One-Day International series, with Samson selected in Shikhar Dhawan’s team. He’ll be hoping for an opportunity to shine.
