A three-match ODI series will come after the current three-match T20I series between India and New Zealand. India’s T20I captain is Hardik Pandya, while Shikhar Dhawan will take the helm in the ODIs as players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul have been rested.

Finn Allen, the opening batter for New Zealand against India in the second Twenty20 international, discussed the difficulty of playing such a talented opponent.

India Got Quality: Finn Allen

“Yeah, I suppose, the names of RCB, seeing Siraj bowl in the last couple of years and seeing Yuzi (Yuzvendra Chahal) bowl in my first year. They have got some other quality guys in there. Guys who swinging and turning it both ways. It will be a good challenge for us,” said Finn Allen.

It is not surprising that Allen had high regard for Mohammed Siraj and Yuzvendra Chahal given his affiliation with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL.

The first Twenty20 International between India and New Zealand was postponed in Wellington owing to weather, and now attention is on the second match of the three-match series in Mount Maunganui.

The Hardik Pandya-led team arrived in Tauranga on Saturday, and they were greeted with a powhiri. Everyone in the Indian group appeared to be having a good time and was upbeat.

An official Maori welcoming ritual called a “powhiri” includes speeches, cultural performances, singing, and the hongi at the end. It is employed at different ceremonies as well as the welcoming of visitors onto a marae.

The most impressive aspect of powhiri, according to the majority of non-Maori speakers, is the visitor’s forceful challenge at the start of the ceremony.

The T20Is of the present series between India and New Zealand will begin at 11 AM and will be streamed live on Amazon Prime Video.
