IND vs NZ: New Zealand Playing XI vs India (Predicted), India Tour Of New Zealand 2022, 3rd T20I.  India and New Zealand will square off in the third and final fixture of the T20I series on Tuesday, November 22. The Men In Blue will head to McLean Park in Napier with a chance to win the series.

The hosts will be out to seek parity in the series after a thrashing received in the 2nd T20I at Mount Maunganui. It was a no-brainer to choose to bat first at the Bay Oval after winning the toss.

Kane Williamson opted to bowl against an attacking Indian batting lineup at a venue where only once a team had successfully chased down a total. Though it wasn’t an easy pitch to bat on, India’s superhero, Suryakumar Yadav showed why he is a class apart. He was the only batsman from both teams who looked comfortable playing his strokes.

As both teams travel to Napier, there is everything to play for. India can seal the series 2-0 with a win at McLean Park while the hosts can bounce back and level the series. A batting-friendly pitch and short square boundaries will make for a high-scoring match between two strong batting teams.

Riding on Suryakumar Yadav’s blistering hundred and the bowlers’ impressive showing, India defeated New Zealand by 65 runs in the second T20 International to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series on Sunday.

The in-form Suryakumar Yadav fired yet again with a scintillating hundred as India posted 191 for six. In reply, New Zealand were all out for 126 in 18.5 overs, with Deepak Hooda taking 4/10 in 2.5 overs.  Tim Southee picked up a hat-trick when he took three wickets on the trot in the innings’ last over to finish with figures of 3/34. The first match of the series was a washout.

Brief Scores:

India: 191/6 in 20 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 111 not out; Tim Southee 3/34) beat New Zealand: 126 all out in 18.5 overs (Kane Williamson 61; Deepak Hooda 4/10) by 65 runs.

The Blackcaps aren’t used to such a thrashing at home. It wasn’t going to be easy chasing down a 192-run target at the Bay Oval. But the way in which New Zealand went down was unlike a T20 World Cup semi-finalist.

Kane Williamson was the top scorer for the hosts with a 61 off 52-ball knock which never made any impact on the innings. Considering the skipper’s form of late, it is bad news for the Blackcaps if Kane Williamson is the top team batsman in a T20I match.

New Zealand are a strong team and they know how to bounce back. They have done it before. Finn Allen, Devon Conway, and Glenn Phillips can be the game changers for New Zealand. In the lower middle order, the likes of Daryl Mitchell and James Neesham will also be key to a comeback from NZ.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will miss the third T20I against India in Napier because of a pre-arranged medical appointment. He is expected to rejoin the team ahead of the three-ODI series that begins on Friday.
Head coach Gary Stead said Tim Southee would lead New Zealand in the third T20I in Kane Williamson’s absence, while Mark Chapman had been called into the squad as cover.

Both the teams had come in following their exit from the semifinal stage of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.  New Zealand were defeated by Pakistan, while India were defeated by eventual champions England.

India will begin a new era in T20 cricket under Hardik Pandya’s leadership. The Men in Blue won’t be having a new-look team, while New Zealand will be without Martin Guptill and Trent Boult.

For New Zealand, it will be about doing well at home. NZC board has placed a bet on youngster Finn Allen, and it would be interesting to see how he manages to cope with high expectations.

Skipper Kane Williamson will also be keen to prove himself after the snub by Sunrisers Hyderabad before IPL 2023 mini auctions for having a poor IPL 2022.

Adam Milne may replace Trent Boult in New Zealand’s playing XI. Finn Allen’s retention at the top of the order for both ODI and T20I squads means there’s no room for Martin Guptill. Trent Boult is the other notable omission from the squads – with Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Blair Tickner, and Adam Milne filling the pace bowling ranks in T20Is.

New Zealand Predicted Playing XI:

Finn Allen, Devon Conway (wk), Mark Chapman,  Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee (c), Adam Milne, Lockie Ferguson

New Zealand’s T20I Squad: Kane Williamson (C) (unavailable for 3rd T20I)/Mark Chapman, Michael Bracewell, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Finn Allen (wk), Devon Conway (wk), Glenn Phillips(wk), Lockie Ferguson, Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee (captain for 3rd T20I), Blair Tickner.

Finn Allen

Finn Allen scored 13, 16, 62, 32, and 12 in the recent tri-series also featuring Pakistan and Bangladesh. He has a stunning strike rate of 165.4 having played 23 T20Is where he scored a ton and 2 fifties. His career best of 101 came against Scotland.

He was the 6th highest run-getter in the New Zealand tri-series by virtue of scoring 135 runs in 5 T20Is averaging 27 at a strike rate of 145.16.

Finn Allen, who was picked ahead of Martin Guptill, showed his explosive power at the top, striking at just over 145 across five games. He however had an unsuccessful T20 World Cup 2022, scoring only 95 runs in 5 T20Is averaging 19. He failed to score against India in the 2nd T20I being Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s victim.

Devon Conway

Devon Conway

Devon Conway who made his T20I debut in the year 2020 has been a major part of his side’s batting lineup for quite some time now. The wicketkeeper-batsman has amassed several important runs for his side while opening the batting.

With a total of 1111 runs in just 31 T20I innings (34 T20Is) so far in his career, Devon Conway’s numbers clearly show his abilities as a batsman in the shortest format of the game.

The left-hander has a healthy Strike Rate of 131.17 and an average as good as 48.3. He had a moderate 2022 T20I World Cup, scoring 145 runs averaging 36.25 including a 92* against Australia in their first game.

He has 7 fifties beside his name including a career-best of 99* against Australia in 2021. He topped the batting chart in the recently concluded Tri Series 2022, having amassed 233 runs in 5 T20Is averaging 77.67.  He opened with Finn Allen against India in the 2nd T20I and scored 25 off 22 balls.

Mark Chapman

Mark Chapman, a veteran of 40 T20Is debuted way back in World T20 2014 but has played sporadically. He averages 24.55 in T20Is with the bat and has 4 scalps to his name. He scored 59 runs in the New Zealand Tri-Series in 3 innings averaging 19.67. He has scored 3 fifties.

Another option to replace Kane Williamson is Michael Bracewell, who was the Man of the tri-series also featuring Pakistan and Bangladesh by picking 8 scalps from 5 T20Is averaging only 10.5. Michael Bracewell, who is more of a batting allrounder for his domestic side Wellington, emerged as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the T20I tri-series in Christchurch, with eight strikes in five games at a scarcely believable economy rate of 4.94.

Kane Williamson averaged 43 in 4 T20Is managing 129 runs in the recent tri-series also featuring Pakistan and Bangladesh. He managed 178 runs averaging 35.6 in 5 T20Is in T20 World Cup 2022. Kane Williamson scored 59 against Pakistan in the Tri-Series final and 61 against Ireland in the World Cup.

He led the team in the 2nd T20I against India and top scored with 61 off 52 balls before being bowled by Mohammed Siraj. He will be unavailable for the 3rd T20I and Mark Chapman or Michael Bracewell will play in his place. The team will be captained by Tim Southee.

Glenn Phillips

Glenn Phillips was New Zealand’s leading run-getter in the 2022 T20 World Cup after scoring 201 runs including a ton- of 104 against Sri Lanka. He averaged 40.2 playing 5 T20Is. He also did well in the preceding Tri Series 2022, where he scored 130 runs averaging 43.33.

Glenn Phillips scored 104 off only 64 balls in New Zealand’s second game against Sri Lanka. Glenn Phillips’ century was the second of the tournament, following Rilee Rossouw’s 109 against Bangladesh, and the Kiwi man’s ton came off just 64 deliveries.

It was the 25-year-old’s second hundred in T20Is after a career-best 108 (51) against West Indies in 2020. He scored 12 off 6 balls in the 2nd T20I against India before being bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal.

James Neesham

James Neesham played 5 T20Is in the New Zealand Tri-Series 2022 and scored only 28 runs averaging 14 and was wicketless. James Neesham averaged a mere 17.67 playing 5 T20Is in this T20 World Cup 2022 managing 53 runs but was wicketless.

James Neesham had an excellent ICC T20 World Cup 2021 where he scored 86 runs averaging 43 including 35* off 23 against Namibia and 27 off 11 against England. He was dismissed for a 3-ball duck in the 2nd T20I against India and was wicketless (0/9 in 1 over).

Daryl Mitchell

Daryl Mitchell played 4 T20Is in T20 World Cup 2022, scoring 109 runs and averaging 54.5. His best of 53* in this WC came against Pakistan. Daryl Mitchell sustained a finger fracture while batting in a practice session ahead of the start of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

As a result, he also had to sit out of the tri-series at home against Bangladesh and Pakistan. After missing the first game of the tournament against Australia, he featured in the next 4 T20Is, after the match against Afghanistan was washed out due to rain. He scored only 10 off 11 balls in the 2nd T20I against India before being one of Deepak Hooda’s 4 victims.

The 31-year-old all-rounder played a crucial role in their road to the 2021 T20 World Cup Final last year, scoring 208 runs at an average of 34.66 while striking at 140.54. In the semi-final against England, he batted through the innings and took New Zealand home with a stunning 47-ball 72* to help his side book a berth in the Final.

Mitchell Santner

Mitchell Santner picked 3/31 in 4 overs against Australia in the first T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 game. Unlike the previous 2021 T20 WC, the spinner has done well this ICC T20 2022 WC, picking 9 scalps in 5 T20Is averaging a mere 14.33.

NZ’s Mitchell Santner played a game in the Tri-Series 2022 involving Pakistan, Kiwis, and Bangladesh and picked up 2/27 against Pakistan. The left-arm orthodox spinner had a pathetic ICC T20 World Cup 2021 where he managed to pick only 2 scalps in 7 T20Is averaging 74.5. He was wicketless against India in the 2nd T20I (0/27 in 3 overs).

Lockie Ferguson

Pacer Lockie Ferguson missed last year’s 2021 T20I World Cup due to a calf tear. Lockie Ferguson has picked 7 scalps in 5 T20Is in T20 World Cup 2022 averaging 22.71. His best of 3/22 came against Ireland in this WC.

NZ’s Lockie Ferguson has been undergoing recovery from an abdominal strain recently. Due to this reason, he wasn’t part of the squad for the recently concluded tri-series. He picked 2/49 in 4 overs against India in the 2nd T20I.

Tim Southee

More than 14 years on from making his international debut as a 19-year-old, Blackcaps seamer Tim Southee, now 33, became just the third New Zealander to play in 100 T20Is.

He was the joint highest wicket-taker in the Tri-Series with Michael Bracewell by picking 8 scalps in 5 T20Is averaging 19.75. He has picked 7 scalps in 5 T20Is in T20 World Cup 2022 averaging 16.29 including 3/6 in 2.1 overs against Australia in the first Super 12 game. He picked 3/34 in 4 overs against India in the 2nd T20I including a hat-trick in the last over. He will lead the team in Kane Williamson’s absence in the 3rd T20I.

Ish Sodhi

Ish Sodhi picked 4 scalps in 5 T20Is in the recently concluded tri-series but averaged 44. Ish Sodhi has picked 6 scalps in 5 T20Is in this ICC T20 World Cup 2022 averaging 21.67. He picked 1/35 in 4 overs in the 2nd T20I against India.

Veteran New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi has completed 100 T20I wickets. He achieved the feat against Bangladesh in the third match of the New Zealand tri-series, also involving Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Ish Sodhi became the second New Zealander after teammate Tim Southee and the fifth bowler overall to complete 100 T20I wickets. He was the third-fastest to get the milestone, having taken 78 matches. Ish Sodhi is the third spinner to accomplish the milestone.

Adam Milne had picked 3 scalps in 2 T20Is in the Tri-Series averaging 12. He didn’t get a chance to play a game in T20 World Cup 2022. Adam Milne was returning to the New Zealand side after an Achilles injury kept him out of the ODI series against Australia. Adam Milne suffered an abdominal injury in the Tri-Series, two weeks out from the start of the 2022 T20 World Cup.

In addition to this, Adam Milne made a comeback after 5 years on the ODI side. He will replace Trent Boult whose opting out of the central contracts in August this year has played a part in his omission. The team have preferred players in the contracts list over him. He was wicketless in the 2nd T20I against India (0/35 in 4 overs).
