Team India suffered a humiliating exit from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 after losing by ten wickets to England in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 10. The Men in Blue posted a challenging score of 168/6 on the board, England chased down the target without losing a wicket in 16 overs.

English captain Jos Buttler led the team from the front, scoring an unbeaten 80 runs from 49 balls, while his opening partner Alex Hales made 86 runs from 47 balls. Buttler and Hales put on an unbeaten 170, a record for the highest T20 World Cup partnership, and never gave India a chance to make a comeback in the game.

The Bowlers Could Not Take A Single Wicket – Salman Butt

Speaking on his YouTube channel, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt believes Team India should be concerned about their bowling. He remarked that something similar happened during India’s opening T20 World Cup 2021 match against Pakistan.

“India’s bowling is being talked about because the batters scored (close to) 170 in the semi-final, yet the bowlers could not take a single wicket. And this is the second time it has happened in 12 months. The alarm bells will obviously ring. At least fight and take five to six opposition wickets and take the match to the end. These things will obviously concern people,” Salman Butt said.

Earlier, Pakistan defeated the Men in Blue by ten wickets in the opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE. Chasing a target of 152 runs in the match in Dubai, Pakistan headed home with 10 wickets in hand. Captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan excelled with match-winning half-centuries.

India tour New Zealand between November 18 and 30 for a white-ball series comprising three T20Is and three ODIs. Through this white-ball tour, both India and New Zealand, the losing semi-finalists from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, are on the road to rebuild for the T20 World Cup 2024 as well as fine-tuning their preparations for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
