Former India National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan, who was part of India’s 2011 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup-winning squad, has said that the forthcoming India tour of New Zealand 2022 would be a “great learning experience” for the young pacers – Umran Malik and Kuldeep Sen.

The Men In Blue will lock horns with New Zealand in a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series. The T20Is will be played on November 18, 20, and 22. The ODIs will be played on November 25, 27, and 30.

The Jammu and Kashmir express pacer Umran Malik, who plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL, has been included in both T20I and ODI squad while the Madhya Pradesh pacer Kuldeep Sen, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL, has been included only in the ODI squad.

Meanwhile, the 2011 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup-winning pacer Zaheer has said that he is keen to see the performance of Umran and Kuldeep on the pace-friendly surfaces in New Zealand.

“This is going to be a super exciting series. I am very keen to see how the tearaway Umran Malik will perform on these pitches. This tour would be a great learning experience for him and Kuldeep Sen.

“The New Zealand pitches have traditionally assisted the pacers and they will make the difference between the fortunes of the two teams,” Zaheer was quoted as saying by Prime Video.

Former India National Cricket Team left-arm pacer has also cautioned Indian pacers to plan their strategies very well during the New Zealand tour as Wellington has a reputation for being extremely windy.

“And a big word of caution to all pacers touring New Zealand for the first time, watch out for the heavy breeze in Wellington, it is tough to run against it and may disrupt your rhythm. Similarly, if you are running with the wind, you may end up being pushed by it, so be prepared for these unique conditions as you plan your attack,” he added.

Notably, Zaheer is going to be a part of the Hindi commentary team for the India tour of New Zealand 2022. He will be joined by Ashish Nehra, Ajit Agarkar, Ajay Jadeja, Mohammed Kaif and Vivek Razdan.
