NZ vs IND: New Zealand’s Predicted Playing XI Against India, India Tour Of New Zealand 2022, 1st ODI

New Zealand takes on India in a three-match ODI series after losing the T20I series. NZ vs IND 1st ODI takes place on November 25 (Friday) at Eden Park in Auckland.

The 2nd ODI will be played on November 27 (Sunday) at Seddon Park (Hamilton) while the 3rd ODI will be played on November 30 (Wednesday) at Hagley Oval (Christchurch). The ODI series is a part of the ODI World Cup Super League. 

India last played in New Zealand in 2020. The Men in Blue won the T20I series 5-0. However, the Kiwis came back to win the ODI (3-0) and Test (2-0) series. India last played a series against New Zealand in 2021.

The series was played in November with India winning the three-match T20I series 3-0. New Zealand also played a Test series later that they lost 1-0.

Martin Guptill and Trent Boult are not a part of this Kiwi side after ending their central contracts with the national team. Kane Williamson continues to lead the side. In this article, we predict the Kiwi XI for the first ODI against India.

Conway will open the batting for the Kiwis. So far in 2022. he has scored 484 runs in 12 matches at an average of 48.40 with three fifties in T20IS. In ODIs, he played just six matches scoring 138 runs averaging 23.00.

Finn Allen

Allen scored in single digits in the two T20Is that were played. He made his ODI debut earlier this year. So far in 8 ODIs, he has scored over 300 runs averaging 38.50. Allen is seen as Martin Guptill’s successor in white-ball cricket for New Zealand.

Kane Williamson

Williamson missed the second T20I and is expected to return for the three ODIs. He scored a fifty in the first T20I. He has only played 4 ODIs this year scoring 123 runs averaging 30.75.

Tom Latham

Latham returns to the ODI setup and in the absence of Martin Guptill is an important player in the side. He will slot in at four. This year he has scored over 400 runs in 12 matches averaging 41.30.

 Daryl Mitchell

Mitchell can slot in at number five. Given his flexibility, he can bat anywhere in the top four. He can also roll his arm for a few overs. He has scored 250 runs in seven games averaging 41.67. 

Glenn Phillips

Phillips can slot in at number six. He was the team’s highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup with 201 runs in five matches. He made his ODI debut earlier this year and has played just six games. 

Michael Bracewell

Bracewell played in the ODI series against Netherlands and Ireland earlier this year. He slots in at number seven. He has taken three wickets in his career so far. 

Mitchell Santner

Santner is the specialist spinner in the playing XI. He will slot in at eight. So far in 2022, He has taken 10 wickets in nine matches.

Tim Southee

Southee led the side in the second T20I in the absence of Kane Williamson. He is the highest wicket-taker in T20I cricket and he also picked up a hat-trick in the second T20I. The Kiwi pace has taken nine wickets in five games this year so far.

Lockie Ferguson

Ferguson will be the second pacer in the Kiwi playing XI. He was a part of the T20I squad that played the two games. Ferguson has picked up 8 wickets in seven games this year so far averaging 54.00 and an economy above 6.

Adam Milne

Milne will conclude New Zealand’s likely playing XI for the first ODI against India. He will be the third pacer in the lineup. So far this year, he ahs picked up 10 wickets in seven games.
