Former Indian spin bowler Pragyan Ojha made a witty remark on Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant’s choice of shots.

Pant made his Test debut for India in 2018 and subsequently pipped Wriddhiman Saha as India’s first-choice wicketkeeper because of his ability to score in a free-flowing manner.

Pant was the architect behind India’s memorable win in Brisbane in the final Test against Australia as his incredible 89* helped them to chase a daunting target of 328.

In the second innings of the Johannesburg Test, Rabada bowled a short ball to Pant that pinged his gloves but didn’t go aerial.

But the very next delivery, Pant came down the track to smash Rabada’s short ball, which he got a thin edge to his counterpart Kyle Verreynne behind the stumps to depart on 34 runs from as many deliveries.

Ojha, who played 48 international matches for India between 2008-2013, hilariously trolled the left-handed batter for his shot selection.

Ishant Sharma should play in place of Mohammed Siraj: Pragyan Ojha

On the eve of the third Test in Cape Town, Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli confirmed that he is fit to play for the series-decider fixture but pace bowler Mohammed Siraj won’t play the third Test owing to a hamstring injury.

The chances for senior bowler Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav have opened up to be included in the playing XI of the Cape Town Test.

Ojha said that Ishant should replace Siraj in India’s bowling attack and opined that Hyderabad batter Hanuma Vihari will be benched to bring back Kohli in the team.

“If Siraj is not available for tomorrow’s game, Ishant should play. It will be very surprising if he doesn’t. Unfortunately, Vihari will make way for Virat,” Ojha’s tweet added further.

India will play against South Africa in the third Test at the Newlands in Cape Town, the match begins on January 11 (Tuesday). The three-match Test series is currently tied at 1-1.
