South Africa defeated India in the previous game by 7 wickets. India won the toss and opted to bat first. With a 50 by KL Rahul and 46 by Ravichandran Ashwin, the team posted 202-10 on the scoreboard. Marco Jansen scalped 4 wickets while Kagiso Rabada and Duanne Olivier hunted 3 scalps each.

Later, with half-centuries by Temba Bavuma (51) and Keegan Petersen (62), South Africa managed to surpass India’s total, smashing 229-10. With a 27-run lead, they got a good start in the 1st innings. India’s Shardul Thakur bowled a fabulous spell, grabbing a 7-wicket haul for the visitors.

In the 2nd innings, India trailed by 27 runs. The visitors reached 266 on the board before losing all the wickets. Hence, developed a target of 240 runs for the Proteas in the final innings. Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara played notable knocks of 58 and 53 respectively. Rabada, Ngidi, and Jansen excelled with the ball this time, each bagging 3 wickets.

In the final innings, opener and skipper Dean Elgar brought the victory for the team with his unbeaten 96-run knock. Rassie van der Dussen contributed 40 runs while Temba Bavuma scored an unbeaten 23 as South Africa reached the target on day 4 with 7 wickets in hand. Now, the three-match Test series stands tied at 1-1 with one more game to go.
