In response, South Africa were bowled out for 197 after facing a top-order collapse in the match. Mohammed Shami picked most 5 wickets for India. With a 130-run lead after the 1st innings, the Indian team gain a dominating position in the match.

Later in 2nd innings, Indians could only score 174 runs before losing all of their wickets. Rishabh Pant scored the most 34 runs. However, the low total was enough for India to set up a big target of 305 for the home team.

In the final innings, South Africa could only reach 191-10 at the scoreboard on the final day, losing the match by 113 runs. Skipper Dean Elgar played a good knock of 77 runs for the team in the 2nd innings, but it was not enough for victory.
