India and South Africa will battle against in the 2nd ODI of the ongoing India tour of South Africa 2021-22. The IND vs SA 2nd ODI will take place at Boland Park in Paarl on January 21 (Friday).

South Africa defeated India in the 1st ODI by 31 runs. Batting first, South Africa posted a total of 296-4 on the scoreboard. Openers Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan could not score much. However, Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen stitched a 240-run stand for the 4th wicket to set up the innings.

With centuries by Temba Bavuma (110) and Rassie van der Dussen (129*), South Africa reached a brilliant total of 296-4 on the board. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah scalped 2 wickets while spinner Ravichandran Ashwin managed to get 1. The rest of the bowlers remained wicketless.

Later, opener KL Rahul got out for 12, becoming a victim of Aiden Markram. However, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli set up a 92-run stand for the 2nd wicket. Dhawan slammed 79 and Kohli hit 51. However, after they both got out, the chase started to slip away from India’s hands.

The biggest turnaround in the IND vs SA 1st ODI match occurred between 33rd to 36th over, when Rishabh Pant (16), Shreyas Iyer (17), and Venkatesh Iyer (2) got out in quick succession. Later, the asking rate continued to grow larger. Tailender Shardul Thakur slammed a 50 in the end, however, it wasn’t enough for the team’s victory. Reaching 265-8 in 50 overs, India lost the match by 31 runs.
