Hardik Pandya, an all-rounder for Team India, anticipates a challenging day at the workplace if he faces off against the middle-order hitters of his country. With players like Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, and even Pandya himself following the top order, the Men in Blue have a strong unit.

The Baroda cricketer’s batting abilities were never in question, but after regaining his physical health, he has developed into a far more reliable bowler. In recent times, he has consistently bowled his allotted four over and has excelled. He has hammered the length hard and benefited from his modifications as well, regularly touching 140 kmph.

I Will Have To Depend On Luck And Skill-to-Skill: Hardik Pandya

Following the Men in Blue’s victory in the third T20I in St. Kitts on Tuesday, Pandya talked to journalist Vimal Kumar (August 2). The all-rounder said that if he were to bowl to the middle-order hitters for India, he would have to rely on luck:

“Have to try out something to keep them quiet. I won’t be able to do much if those guys are in good touch. I will have to depend on luck and skill-to-skill.”

In times of crisis, the Indian middle order has performed admirably, especially when the top order has been unable to get going. Since the home series against South Africa in June 2022, Dinesh Karthik has taken over the finishing responsibilities, and the Baroda all-rounder has done admirably in his new position.

I Am Not A One Dimensional Player: Hardik Pandya

After the top-order players departed attempting to increase the score in the second T20I match against the West Indies, the Gujarat Titans captain played a cautious innings. On a bumpy surface, Pandya’s run-a-ball 31 helped India reach 138.

He gave the following explanation of his batting strategy in light of his new place in the playing XI:

“I am not a one-dimensional player, I always assess and read the situation. If it demands a six, I’ll try to score one and if it demands a more conservative approach, I will protect my wicket. God has given me the ability and I have done the hard work to strengthen that ability.”

On August 6, the fourth T20I of the series will pit India against the West Indies (Saturday). The team captained by Rohit Sharma now leads the series 2-1.
